Crafting a Partnership in Learning

A flourishing educational environment is built on trust, partnership, and open dialogue. Central to this is ensuring our parents, the first educators in a child’s life, remain actively involved in the learning process within our district.

Transparency in Curriculum: Parents have every right to understand what their children are learning. This means providing complete transparency and full disclosure regarding our curriculum. It’s crucial that parents not only know but also understand the content, ensuring it aligns with their values and expectations for their child’s education.

Clarity in Specials: Beyond core subjects, our specials (like art, music, and physical education) play a significant role in shaping a well-rounded student. As with our broader curriculum, I believe in offering parents full insight into these areas. By doing so, it will empower parents to complement school learning at home and further engage in their child’s holistic development.

Choice & Flexibility: While the foundation of our curriculum is built on state mandates, we recognize that certain instructions and activities might not align with every family’s perspective. Hence, we advocate for opt-out provisions for non-state required instruction and activities. This ensures that while we provide a robust educational experience, parents retain the authority to decide what’s best for their child.

Together, with parental engagement at the forefront, we can craft a learning environment that respects individual choices, nurtures trust, and promotes true partnership between home and school. Only then can we ensure that our education system is truly responsive to the needs and aspirations of every family in the Anthony Wayne community.
