Empower Families, Elevate Schools
Strong Families need to be the cornerstone of our community, shaping the values and lessons we hold. Schools are here to support and amplify those lessons, ensuring every child gets the best foundation. With mutual respect and understanding, and by leaning on each other's strengths, we can ensure a brighter, more resilient future for all.

Mike’s Story
Rooted in this district for over a decade, my family chose to be a part of this community because of its remarkable schools. We absolutely love it here, and it’s this deep-seated commitment that propels me to serve on the school board.
With over 20 years as an Electrical Engineer paired with and my current role as a Project Engineer, I've honed a meticulous eye for detail, a commitment to excellence, and a knack for keeping projects on time and within budget. I understand the importance of precision, whether it's in engineering drawings or in shaping our children’s futures. My engineering background equips me with unique analytical skills that will be invaluable in evaluating school policies, managing budgets, and driving academic excellence.
But more than any schematic or technical design, my primary roles are those of a committed husband, a dedicated father, and a devoted member of Cedar Creek Church. Through my volunteer efforts, I've coached over 25 teams across flag football, basketball, and baseball, consistently prioritizing excellence and instilling crucial life values in our up-and-coming athletes. For me, sports aren't just games; they're platforms for ensuring every child recognizes and reaches their innate potential. Additionally, as a father to a daughter with special needs, I have firsthand experience with the unique challenges faced by students on an IEP. I am committed to being a strong advocate for them and ensuring that all our students receive the support they need.
In this endeavor for the local board of education, my pledge is simple: To merge the intentionality of a devoted father with the precision of an experienced engineer. Together, as parents, educators, and community members, we can shape a brighter future for our children.

Steering the Board of Education Through Core Values
The success of our Board of Education is directly linked to the students we serve. Their growth, development, and achievement are the yardsticks by which we measure our success. It's essential that our board continually elevates academic standards, ensuring that our curriculum remains competitive and relevant, preparing students not just for tests but for life beyond the school walls.
Within the board's chambers, respectful and informed dialogue must be the norm. This openness to discussion and debate fosters innovation, allowing us to adapt to the changing educational landscape and build consensus on crucial matters.
Our parents and taxpayers are more than just stakeholders; they are partners in the educational process. Their voices and concerns enhance our board's decisions, ensuring we remain connected to the community's heartbeat.
Teachers and district employees play an irreplaceable role. As a board, recognizing, valuing, and supporting their efforts is paramount. They are, after all, the ones turning our decisions into tangible outcomes for students.
The principles of transparency, honesty, and trust are especially vital for a board. They reinforce accountability and foster community trust. Fiscal responsibility is non-negotiable; every dollar should be allocated and spent with purpose, efficiency, and transparency. Data should guide our decisions, offering an evidence-based approach to the challenges we face. As we navigate this digital age, safeguarding the personal information of our students and employees is a top priority, ensuring we maintain the sacred trust our community places in us.
The Power of School Pride: Strengthening Our District Together
At the heart of Bold Monclova, Waterville, and Whitehouse lies a shared commitment: Nurturing a sense of school pride that uplifts everyone — from our students and teachers to staff and the broader community.
-
For Students:
School pride cultivates a sense of belonging. When students take pride in their school, it's not just about cheering for a sports team or participating in clubs; it's about feeling part of something bigger. This belonging boosts self-esteem, motivation, and academic performance. Celebrating achievements, whether on the football field, in our award-winning arts programs, or within inspiring student clubs, students recognize their potential and are motivated to achieve even more. -
For Teachers and Staff:
Pride in our school fosters a positive work environment. It reminds our dedicated educators and staff why they chose this vocation. Recognizing and celebrating their efforts, from classroom triumphs to extracurricular accomplishments, promotes job satisfaction and dedication, translating to enriched learning experiences for our students. -
For the Community:
A proud school is a rallying point for the community. It becomes a beacon of shared values and aspirations, reinforcing bonds between residents. Whether it's supporting our teams vying for NLL titles, attending performances by our band and choir, or appreciating the efforts of student clubs, the community benefits from a heightened sense of unity and shared purpose.
Moreover, a school bursting with pride naturally encourages students toward enriching community service, forging a bond between learning and giving back. This cooperative relationship ensures our district doesn't just produce academically outstanding individuals but compassionate, community-minded citizens.
In championing school pride, we're not just celebrating current achievements; we're investing in the future of our district and the promise of what we can achieve together. By weaving Monclova, Whitehouse, and Waterville's unique threads into one vibrant tapestry, we set the stage for collective growth, unity, and lasting success.
Accountability in Spending: Your Trust, Our Responsibility
The financial resources entrusted to the local Board of Education are not just funds; they represent the hard-earned money of our community members and their hopes for a brighter future for our students. As stewards of these resources, it's the Board’s duty to ensure they are used judiciously and transparently.
Schools are community assets. Any decision to expand or modify these assets should be made in consultation with the very people who fund and use them. Transparent planning, open forums for discussion, and feedback loops ensure that our community remains at the heart of any infrastructural decisions. Together, we can create learning environments that are not only state-of-the-art but also resonate with the needs and aspirations of our community.
When it comes to programs, training, or resources that touch upon the culture and values of our student body, parental involvement is paramount. Any significant investment, whether monetary or in-kind from external agencies, will be shared transparently with parents. This not only ensures alignment with our community's values but also builds trust in our decision-making process.
A commitment to fiscal responsibility does not merely mean balanced budgets and frugal spending. It means being accountable to each taxpayer, every parent, and the entire community. It is a promise to make decisions with integrity, with the best interests of our students at the core, and with a clear vision of building an education system that all of the Anthony Wayne community can be proud of.
Parental Engagement: Crafting a Partnership in Learning
A flourishing educational environment is built on trust, partnership, and open dialogue. Central to this is ensuring our parents, the first educators in a child's life, remain actively involved in the learning process within our district.
Parents have every right to understand what their children are learning. This means providing complete transparency and full disclosure regarding our curriculum. It's crucial that parents not only know but also understand the content, ensuring it aligns with their values and expectations for their child's education.
Beyond core subjects, our specials (like art, music, and physical education) play a significant role in shaping a well-rounded student. As with our broader curriculum, I believe in offering parents full insight into these areas. By doing so, it will empower parents to complement school learning at home and further engage in their child's holistic development.
While the foundation of our curriculum is built on state mandates, we recognize that certain instructions and activities might not align with every family's perspective. Hence, we advocate for opt-out provisions for non-state required instruction and activities. This ensures that while we provide a robust educational experience, parents retain the authority to decide what's best for their child.
Together, with parental engagement at the forefront, we can craft a learning environment that respects individual choices, nurtures trust, and promotes true partnership between home and school. Only then can we ensure that our education system is truly responsive to the needs and aspirations of every family in the Anthony Wayne community.
